Default Need some help removing the PS hose from a SC400

Okay so i believe theres two sections to the hose; one thats coming from the ps pump, and then the other, on the rack and pinion. I notice they connect together at the center right under the crank pulley.

Now whats the easiest way to remove both of these pieces? what size wrench should I use? or is there an easier tool instead? Also do they both usually crack?

I know I have a ps leak because ATF fuild is dripping from the front and the lines look real grimy

Thanks for your help!

Mine were cracking and leaking. My brother used a DIY hose from Lowe's that he cut down and it's been holding well for 3 months now. Where in Texas are you? I was at pick n pull in San Antonio the other day and they had about 3-4 PS hoses.

I wouldn't suggest a hose I thought was crap. Many of the cars are low mileage, you would be surprised..

Oh oh..Are you talking about hydraulic fan pump fluid? PS pump on the SC uses standard PS fluid, but not ATF. ATF is red, while the PS pump is dull clear. If you mix them up, you're done.

If the drip is from the front, check the fan pump. It can drip on the PS hose, but that doesn't mean the hose is leaking. Try to spray some break cleaner and wipe it off clean. Then drive for awhile and inspect it again. Also, check the fan pump reservoir and the PS pump reservoir to see if they're low.

That's very interesting. If that tutorial website recommends using ATF, then I guess it can be used, maybe as an alternative. However, I use synthetic PS fluid on my SC.
