Cool Timing Belt "O" BOI.. VVTi 1UZ

Nearly 6 months later, I now finally get a chance to remove the black vvti hat under the hood. Can you believe I actually thought the timing belt could possibly be located some where else, Lol.. But on second look, yup it's right behind everything at the front of everything. I'm the 3rd owner and the previous owner bought the car at 76K. She claims she's never touched the timing belt before, so I'll have to assume it's been changed just before she bought it. And based on the near perfect condition of the passenger seat with very light wear on the driver's, this baby had to have gone through the first timing belt replacement at 60K. Now the car has 134K and I bet I'm right at the mark of the Lexus recommended 90K timing belt service. And I wouldn't even be surprised that the previous owner turned psycho after hearing what Lexus would bill her for it. Now the funny part is I called Lexus w/ the vin# and they claim it's never been done before, and I highly doubt the belt would last over 134K with these big V8's, right? But after a bit of research on the history, I have to assume the very first owner was probably an auto mechanic who's favorite car was the 98 Lexus SC400, and paid big bucks for it in 98.

Does anyone know roughly what the cost would be if I replace it together with a buddy of mine? Also, how much time am I looking at? This really got me hesitating to drive this car any further.

The timing belt will last. I changed my SC4's timing belt for the first time at 130K miles. No one had changed it before. It was beginning to show signs of cracks and creases, but my mechanic said the only thing that may have held it together is the fact that it is so wide.

Is there anyway to inspect the belt without having to remove too many items?
