Is it just me or does the a650e tranny drive funny?

Default Is it just me or does the a650e tranny drive funny?

I mean don't get me wrong because it obvously does its job at wot, but under normal accelleration it feels weird in between shifts. It almost feels as though each shift is too early and therefore, it feels laggy. I've driven newer bmw's and mercede's before and I understand their shift patterns are similar during normal driving, but their auto seems to shift better than our a650e. The flow of the shift pattern on the a650 just doesn't seem right. Does anyone feel this way too? Or maybe I'm just being too gentle while driving normally.

There is a thread on here that describes how you can change how it shifts. To me it feels like it needs atleast one more gear.

When I drive normally the gears be shifting too soon. It seems like all 3 gears shift right around 2k rpm. You can barely hear the shifts but you feel it from the lag in between shifts. And just this morning I drove a friends 99 e320 and I can obviously feel the 5spd auto tranny shift in similar patterns, but the sc400 is just shifting too fast so that it can't build up speed fast enough during normal driving. The 5 spd auto on the e320 revs a little bit more before shifts, and I like how that fees.

+1 on the thread for the shifting. I think you have to adjust the TPS.

Is there a large pause in between shifts? If so there could be a problem with the T/C or trans itself. Just throwing that out there.

Here's the thread you want:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/per...-shifting.html

Mine always felt like it was shifting too early. After the adjustment with the car in ECT PWR mode, the transmission holds gears like it should when you want it to.

Oh, and our cars have A340E's, not A650E's
