white = water, coolant blue = oil black/ dark grey = fuel White = water, coolant and it very well could be, but with the powerful stench of gas, finding gas in my oil pan, and the dumping of fuel into the engine. I am hoping that the problem is not water just fuel... |
lol at some of these answers.....white smoke most certainly can be a sign of an extremely rich condition....(Think dumping fuel, not enrichment map....stuck injector, dead cylinder(s) pooling fuel)
If you finding fuel in the crankcase, there's a very real possibility that you washed out a cylinder, in which case the cylinder walls will start wearing very quickly and it'll start to use a excessive amount of oil... |
Here is where I am with this now...
- replaced the fuel tank - all lines have been blown thru - fuel pressure regulator seems to be good ( I had a mechanic look at it) but I dont know how to check it myself... ANYONE ??? - I am about to buy the "check valve" for the canister $78 and hope for the best... Anyone have any other Ideas? I have been following all the posts and once again... Thank you guys for all your assistance... |
Bump for this thread my brother 93 SC400 is having the same issue. I replaced the tank because the tank had rust in it. I also replaced the fuel filter and ran fuel injector cleaner in it also just for the hell of it. This is the only thing i cannot figure out for the life of me. I had a suggestion for replacing the charcoal canister cause of a defective valve inside. Not sure if it is similar to the one on the intake that someone mentioned?
|
I dont suppose you found the "FIX" ??? I am still to cheep to buy the "fuel pressure regulator" and the "check valve" I want to replace the bad part only...
I JUST DONT KNOW WHICH ONE TO REPLACE. Anyone ??? Once again THANK YOU all for you assistance !!!

Check your canister purge valve. If the valve is stuck in the open position it will allow fuel tank vapors to enter the intake manifold.

I think you are speaking of the "check valve" as seen in the center of the schematic below ? or are you speaking of the "check valve" that directly connects to the canister? secondly How can I test it ??? Peace and Thanx Wayne ============================= The engine seems to be dumping fuel. I am getting alot of white, gas smelling smoke. I think that both the problems can be cured with this fix??? I hope !!!

you check this yet?
Yes I replaced the canister with another (used but functional) one. I start the car run it for 10-15 min, shut the car off...A couple of hours later I see the gas bleed out of the canister. So I said, what if I open the gas cap and relieve all the pressure ??? Well... I did that, and the next day (without starting the car again) it bleeds !!! So Now I keep the gas cap loose so I dont build pressure What is causing this ??? I think its the check valve, but between the cost and seeing how hard it is to get to, I wanna weight all the other options. THANX IN ADVANCE !!! Wayne |
Hi all. I know it's been a year but I would really like to know how you ended up fixing the problem. My 92 SC300 is doing the exact same thing...and i'm going crazy trying to find the cause of the leaking gas. I've tried switching tanks to see if maybe the old tank had some sort of cracked evap line inside it, but no change. gas keeps leaking unless I open the fuel cap to release the pressure. I think I might try testing or replacing the check valve underneath the manifold. I also heard from a friend that I should check the evap vsv as well. Were any of these the fix for you?
Thanks in advance. |

There is a procedure for testing the vapor canister. I'll see if I can find it.
