the previous owner of my car made 466whp on a mustang dyno, I brought the boost down to ~16-18 lbs and run pump so its probably about 400hp. And I run that daily but don't beat it bad.

there are a few members on here that run the 1jzgte with a w58 combo even the 2jzgte with the w58...its all about how u treat ur tranny jus dont beat on it too bad..with a good clutch a w58 could hold around 400tq...but if ur banging gears every other light then u will pop the clutch then blow the tranny aswell.
i will be running a 1jz with my w58
if u ask me i say the w58

I have a mk4 supra w58 on my 1jz. I'm running about 14 or 15psi on stock twins. I daily it and sometimes clutch kick. I havent dyno'd so I'm not sure how much power I'm making. I've done some hard driving on it and it's holding up very nicely. I also have an upgraded clutch. I've heard from some local people that the mk4 w58 is supposedly the strongest of the w58 but I don't how true that is.

The w58 will do the job up. I ran the w58 for a while and my car was stock twins. Syncro started going bad so I bit the bullet and got the Soarer R154 and haven't looked back. Worth the money and not have to worry about the issue.
W58 and drifting bad idea!

try not to go too aggressive on your pressure plate, with clutch kicking it will amplify the wear onto the tranny. I got the act 6 puck sprung with xtreme pressure plate and it is pretty beefy, if I had to do it again for a more streetable setup I would try one grade lower pressure plate. mostly everyone who tries to drive it stalls out. just takes some practice though, I have no problems moving the car just inches in heavy traffic. holds boost like a whoa..
