At the price of KV MAFs IM glad to get this fact burned into my brain. I was reading a can of CRC MAF cleaner, and it said it cleans all MAFs safely and adds HP and fuel mileage.

Before you spray your sensor, if you haven't already, you need to try something.

Go get some black sealer (FIPG) and squeeze some out on a peice of cardboard. Let it dry overnight or so. Then spray the MAF cleaner on to it and see if it eats the sealer.

The KV MAF sensor has a couple of different sections within it. The sections are seperated by black sealer! After I sprayed mine, the sealer on the top cover and some internally gave out. Not 100% sure this was completely the cleaners fault but I wouldn't spray another one. The air passing by / into the MAF actually creates pressure, if the sealer leaks, pressure can't be created and it will leak.

Go here for some MAF pics. I took one apart awhile back.

Finally received my used MAF today, first time I worked on our MAF and learned a lot about it. The unit they sent me was off of a GS or LS, it had diff. mounting bolts so I used my old aluminum housing, and removed the air flow sensor that is bolted to the top of the housing. Its held on with 3 screws and has an 0-ring on 2 plastic poles. If I had it to do over again, I would have only removed those screws and wiggeled the black sensor off the housing and replaced it. So if you remove the sensor you can clean the housing and honeycomb saftely and reinstall the sensor. I will drive the car tommorow and see if it fixes my hesitation.

Drove the car today and it drove well. On the way back home as I was going through the 40 mph zone when the car bucks twice then does it again, It never did it before with the old MAF. The good used MAF was from a diff. model Lex. and had a diff. part #. Should that matter? Bought it on-line.

I thought to be fair to the new / used MAF, I removed the neg. battery cable for 5-min. I drove the car on delivery and made 6-8 stops, logged 52 miles. The car ran ex. Then Im driving home back to my 40 mph and it bucked like a fuel cut at slow down deceleration. As I drove again into town and back it got worse, and turned my CEL on for the first time in 4yrs. I will put the old maf back in that had light hesitation, but no fuel cut. Will also try getting a better price on the air flow module part of the MAF.

What's the code? My shot in the dark.....TPS.

Did you put the "new" sensor in your old housing? Not sure if it's true but supposedly the housing is calibrated for the sensor. If you look into the housing it has a screw. ??

Since the prob. is throttle position related the same every time, I want to think, TPS, but it was not doing a fuel cut before I changed MAF.

Left the bat. cable off for a min. and had CEL. Going to leave it off for 5- min. Is there a way to check codes with out a scan tool?

Assuming 95 and under OBD1.

Yes. Use a jumper wire and connect TE1 and E1 in the data link connector under the hood near the oil fill cap. The terminals are labled, you'll see when you look. Then, turn the key on and count how many times the CEL flashes. Codes are 2 digit. Will flash x amount of times, then pause, then flash y amount of times.

Example: 3 flashes, slight pause, 2 flashes = code 32.

If there are multiple codes, there will be a longer pause between codes than the pause between digits of a code. If that makes sense.

I knew that, but forgot the particulars, You were right still trac and cel. If you leave the bat. cable off for more than 3 min. then it makes your steering wheel tilt and extend, feel like it does more . Thanks.
