SC300 manual - battery keeps going bad

Guys,

1995 SC300 manual with about 117K miles. Battery was replaced by previous owner about 2 months ago. Driven very little since then.

This weekend, battery went completely dead. Took it to get battery tested and they said battery is bad and won't hold charge. Got a new battery.

But are there known causes to make the battery go bad rather than simply draining the battery? What could be wrong with the car to make the battery go bad that it needs replacing instead of simple recharging?

Thanks.

there can be a ton of reasons for it to go bad. Check the alternator to begin with and see if it is going bad. Something is pulling current when the car is sitting.

But if somehting is simply pulling current while the car is sitting, why does the battery go bad instead of simply draining? In other words, why does the battery get ruined?
