To all who have been wondering about this mystery transmission crossmember I've identified it: it's a W58 5-speed crossmember from a 1982-1985 Toyota Celica. The transmission mount for those years is of a similar in-line bolt pattern on the tail housing of the Celica W58 and the crossmember mounting area should fit just the same.
Of course, the chassis bolt holes need a little modification but there you go: it's from an 82-85 Celica 5-speed.
Later edit: Sorry all. This is only partly accurate. After finally getting my MKIII R154 installed with this Celica W58 crossmember it DOES need modification to fit. The transmission is held in the correct position and height while using the MKIII R154 trans mount... but the bolts only line up on the left hand (driver) side. The right hand (passenger) side needs to be cut, extended about an inch and re-welded. After that, it fits like a glove.
