Default 1jz auto tranny fit 2jzge?

Here's the deal.

My auto transmission has been acting up lately... sometimes it just wont go into 4th, sometimes around 45mph it will keep downshifting and up-shifting and doing all kinds of weird stuff. I know i could probly fix it for cheap, But i'm using this as an excuse to finally do some engine work.

I have only $2,000 to spend at the moment... I REALLY want an R154 swap but sourcing all of that out will be a pain especially because my motor is stock.

So i got to thinking... Maybe i can just buy a 1jz with an auto tranny, and then put that tranny on my motor untill i have enough money for the swap.

Does anyone have any idea if this will work/bolt up?

OR

how much more money would it take bare minimum to get the whole 1JZ into my car? Should i just opt for that?

LMAO bro i have just finished going on the same mission your on right now. It took me about 4 months to finaly figure out that it was my ecu. I even bought a 1J auto tranny that is still in my shed waiting to get put on (i will when i can) I bet its ur ecu just get another one that is in perfect working order and ur o/d (thats what 4th gear is called) problem will go away. But if you still wanna go with the whole 1J thing then yes the 1J tranny will bolt up and work fine on a 2J but you still might have that o/d prob GL

1jz auto wont work since the wiring is 100% different 1jz uses kick down cable ... 2jz uses electric valve body.

if you dont plan on making over 400hp w58 will work perfect and you can get the whole auto to 5 speed swap for around $1000 ( the best thing you can do)

1jz if you can do all the labor will cost around 1500 to 2k to get into the car and running.

honestly 5 speed makes the car so much more sporty and fun!
