Yes at the least I do hope you intend to put a bypass valve in there somewhere.

AEM makes one. It's like a 30 dollar insurance against major repairs.

What he said.....It's basically a sponge if my memory serves me correctly which sucks in the water, but lets the air through.

Yessir, that's the ticket. Only thing that worries me about them, is that since it's foam, it's very sensitive to the weather. Foams dry out overtime, which is why many folks have the condensation issue in their headlights. The foam dries out, and falls out, and bam water can get in. Periodically check up on the foam to make sure it's still A o K and you should be fine . GL.

that foam is a filter it isnt there for water absorbtion. Under the foan is a rubber flap that opens up under vaccuum that is created when the primary filter is submerged in water. You can just make a splash shield for the filter to cover the front and bottom of the primary filter. If water droplets can get past the primary filters medium then the bypass valve will not open. Also if the vaccuum created by your intake is much greater than the volume of air the filter can pass through it, your bypass valve will open. And it isnt a very effective filter on the bypass valve.

I thought the early years were 3.0L NA, 2.5L TT, and 4.0 V8 as engine options.

Being the 3.0L as entry base model.
