Default So i believe i blew my engine help me out here

Hey guys, so recently ive been suspecting my car isnt running right and sure enough it seems like ill be paying for it. i got it back from the mechanic yesterday and today drove it across town to help a friend run some errands.

anyways getting off the exit i was messing around with a turbo volvo and passed the street i live on, after about 100 miles an hour the car had real trouble going any faster for some odd reason. then i felt a jerk and it seems like the internals just got screwed over, like i threw a rod or something to that effect.

then i immediatlly slow down and it drove fine to my house BUT now when i give it a bit of gas i hear a knocking noise which cant be good..... new engine time guys???

my car only has 95000 miles on it and its a 93 sc300 auto

If you threw a rod you'd know it for sure. Sounds like you probably tossed a rod bearing or something, maybe even took a chunk out of a piston. Time to tear it down.

Oh, and don't forget to check your oil. If it looks like a chocolate milkshake, you popped a headgasket or broke something even more drastic that's letting coolant into your oil. Could be a side effect of whatever's causing the knock.

When you check your oil, if it tastes like a chocolate milk shake, then you'll know for sure that somethings wrong...

When you start the car does it idle somewhat normal, then when throttle is applied you hear the knock. If so, then yea you probably spun a rod bearing, and that knock you hear is metal on metal.

What did your mechanic do, btw? Did he change the oil by chance? Is there oil in the car now? If so, grab a flashlight and pull the dipstick, and shine it on the oil to check for tiny metallic flakes in the oil which would be bearing material.

I would stick with the stock motor if I were you. The 1JZ takes hands on to get it right, and you'll pay a shop out the **** to do this work for you.

I am going to keep the engine and rebuild it.... but really at this point not having a car the fastest way to be up and running seems to be yank this engine put it in a bag then drop a 1jz into my car and while i run the 1jz into the ground (hopefully 2-4 years) i will rebuild my current 2jz.

my second reason for wanted to just swap it is because most likely its going to take anywhere from 1-3 grand to fix my current problem i bet so why not just throw in a swap for less of a price right now and slowly fix my original engine.

Any opinions???

also im wondering if i can use my current parts off of my 2jz on the 1jz such as distributor/plugs wires/ radiator all that?

Find a used stock 2JZGE longblock, and your up and running in 1 weekend.

Hell, I have a GE motor in the 'for sale' section right now...

Do like I did and just buy an engine from a GS or something for $450 and have it going in a week. But yes it does sound like a rod bearing. I could crank mine and it idled fine but upon revving it up it would knock. But I killed mine by stupidity. Best of luck to you. It's strange to see one die so early. Mine was turboed and had about 260k on it.
