Default Ugh, i cant believe this is happening.

2jz-ge, 136k miles and its burning oil

I got the car last December at around 132k. I've had to fill it up with 1 qt of oil back when i drove it 2500k miles and now another qt at 5000 miles. On top of that i had to change out the clutch a few months back. I guess i know what the previous owner ment when he said he couldn't afford to keep the car.

Now the real question. How long do you guys think the engine will last before i am putting so much oil into it, that i would be better off getting the engine swapped. I'm hopeing the car will last like 2 yrs, so i can save up some money for a new engine.

Right now i am really debating getting a 1jz-gte/r154 over a more expensive 2jz-gte. But i am worried about the lack of parts, plus i hear the torque is worse. Anyone have any experiences they wanna share?

I highly doubt HIGHLY doubt that motor is burning that much oil, check the valve covers, the oil will drain down and get burned off so it leaves no puddle. Second if its not smoking like a *****, then its not burning all that oil

LoL

and like it was said before it is very unlikely that the engine is burning oil. What you do have which is very common is a nice oil leak check your front and rear main seals also check the oil pan seal you should be able to find you prob there..

valve seals... thats all i have to say. If its not leaking from the block or head externally where you can see it, its a safe bet that its the valve seals. I have seen it start happening as early as 80k miles. Its common on the 2jz and you will see it a lot on supraforums.

What I cant believe is that after me making 600 posts, you would think i would do something on accident. FYI this section gets far less traffic then the general sc300/sc400 forum. So i posted their to get as much people to view this thread as i could, before you guy moved the thread.

I had my rear main seal replaced a few months back but if it was leaking then i would see a pool of oil on the ground, correct? I checked and there are no visible puddles on the ground. The distributor and engine itself is dusty and their is no oil on it at all. So that leaves the value seals.

This is what i would need to do correct?

If so it looks like a ton of work.

Oh Golly Gee...my bad.

Thanks for letting me know you knowingly posted in the wrong section. There is a reason (though hard for you to understand) why we have sections.

Yeah i think its a safe bet its the valve seals. If you arent turbo'd just run a little thicker oil and it should help the issue until you swap. Honestly the job isnt that bad and only takes a couple hours.
