Default Need help on installing Short Shifter

So I am trying to install my short shifter without my original (so I am missing parts, yes I know) and I have no way to base it on anything.

I have this

Does the ring go below the ball or above? Does it sit below the white basket? I really need to know so I can make the pieces I am missing.

Thanks

the ball should sit in the ring and the ring acts as the pivot.

this might help you...

Okay, so if the ball sits inside of the ring, what keeps the ring from falling to the bottom?

the ring should fall down into some piece where it will lock in to keep the ball from moving up, in my buddy's 300Z the "ring" was plastic and we had to squeeze it into a divot that was hard to get it down into, but thats what held the ball in place

hope that makes some sense

hard to get what you are saying.

you are saying that the ring sits on some random item and it pivots as the ball is on top of the ring... or pivots as its below the ring.?

I'll take a picture for you tonight, but I remember that I pieced mine together with some of my original hardware.

the ball would be below the ring, to hold it down, so you cant pull the shifter up, i think the ring is meant to hold is solidly in place, but seeing your pictures kind of, it seems like i may be off even though thats what it should be for, because i do not see a spot where the ring would squeeze into to hold itself

Well thanks for all your help. Only if Toyota would sell the pieces separately, I would be a lot happier lol. Now I have to throw some plastic on the lathe and make it work!
