egr valve..how to
smog check...emissions failed....does anyone in here know how to take out and replace the egr valve?
|
take the BIG nut that holds the egr to the tube. i think its like a 32mm. take off the two bolts that hold the egr tube on. follow the tube down.
take the recirculating diaphragm off. unbolt the two bolts that hold the egr. also unplug the sensor. OR you can just put a resistor on the sensor plug. that is what i did because i replaced my egr but it still threw the code/light. not too sure if smog check can detect that a resistor is cheating the ecu though. i passed though. btw this post is in the wrong section. mod please move. |
Moved to forums performance section.

Here's a few tips: get you're self a 10mm ratchet-action wrench with a swiveling end. This will make it a bit easier to get to the two nuts. After that, get a star style socket (don't know what size, a pair of pliers works as well) and unscrew the two studs to the intake manifold. This will make removal of the EGR MUCH easier, but it's still a bit of a PITA. MAke sure you also take a phone pic of the vacuum tubes so it's easier to plug them back in later. |
I have taken the Big nut and the two that hold the EGR to the intake off but it wont budge. Does anybody know the size of the star tipped studs? Thanks
