Default My SC400 dies out while driving

I've been experiencing this problem with my SC lately... I'll be driving and going slow and I notice my RPM's start dropping to 500, then to 300... and then it goes to 0 and dies out. and the red battery on the lower right of the dash shows up. When I put the car in park and start it up, it starts up just fine. What problem could this be? I feel afraid to drive it on the highway if it dies out on me like this but I'm not sure what the problem could be. New battery perhaps? Or not a strong connection on the wires?

Yeah. The car runs fine but when I slow down the RPMS slowly drop til it gets to 0 and it dies out while in drive.... I turn the ignition off, start it back up and it works. Another weird problem is when I rev the engine I hear this very distinct WHINING noise... Like a belt or a blower. I hope it's not the alternator

alt or ps is my guess. More so the ALT going bad. Let the car run, and disconnect one of the battery terminals and see what happens, if it dies, then good chance the alt is dead.

Is the car supposed to still run if you disconnect the terminal while the car is on? I always thought if you take the terminal off of the battery while the car is running the car just dies?

Default my 2 cents

i believe the alternator keeps the car going. it supplies the spark plugs with juice to keep the car going. if the alternator is bad, the car asks the battery to supply the juice, hence Ihiryu telling you to take off the terminal to see if it shuts off. the sole purpose of the battery is to start the car, not run it.
