coolant line bypass free horsepower?
im just curious i have a 96 sc400 and on my throttle body there is an inlet and oulet nipple which hot coolant flows thru coolant hoses I have friends with ls1 camaros and this is the first thing they do is by pass the lines going thru the throttlebody they disconnect the lines off it and just join them together im just curious if anyones hastried it yet on their sc any info will be appreciated the way it would pick up horsepower is that the throttlebody will no longer have the hot coolant water flowing thru it therfore reducing air intake temps a little

Yes it will help. It may hurt extreme low temp driveablity (the coolant keeps the t/b from freezing). It probably won't be much, but I look at it from the point that every little bit helps.

That TB coolant line is to prevent the throttle plate from freezing shut during cold temps. HOWEVER, this doesn't happen. I've done this to both of my cars.
Think about it like this, you installed a CAI on your SC because you want cooler air, however when the cooler air hits your TB (with the coolant hose still connected) it will bring the temperature back up...
Just bypass it. It doesn't hurt BUT it will not increase HP....

Bypassed on both the SC and the Camaro. The guy who ported/polished my LS1 throttle body said he was so glad that I did because otherwise he has to let them cool down for 30-45 minutes before he can even start on them (and he bypasses it on every car he does a TB for). The SC was more for making it easy to take off than performance gain but I'm sure it helped a little too.
