Default jdm engine importer feedback? (good, bad, ugly?)

I am planning on buying a motor but I heard some stories about shady companies and I wanted to get some feedback. I have been shopping for a 1jzgte with 5 speed, complete swap (soarer) the soarer part is important to me because I know the shifter is like 2-3 inches further back and will fit perfect in my car.

so after calling around I have found the following.
www.jdmracingmotors.com - 2475 shipped (60 day warranty)
www.japandoesticmotor.com - 2100 shipped (iffy on rep)
www.jdmtunersinc.com - 1750 + ? shipping (iffy on rep)

I called each one and they said they do have a "soarer" motor tranny complete swap with all the parts.

i also tried jarco and jhot but unfortunately they don't have any in stock and jarco isn't importing anymore. i would have felt comfortable buying from them too so I am at a bit of a loss.

like i said. I would love to go with jarco or jhot. but they don't have any inventory and they said it doesn't look like they will get anything in any time soon. sooooo. given I can't go with the best (from what i have read on these threads) what to do now?

that was basically in the original question

looks messy

another one to stay away from is Tiger Japanese Auto. One memeber had a really bad experience and ended up selling his car and engine after the whole mess. Also a friend of mine with a MKIII 2JZ swap had his come from there with two shot turbos. He had to spend some extra dough for a single turbo conversion. also had a bunch of electrical issues that he finally has resolved. IMO stay away from them.

I would like to hear as well..The company I was thinking of going through had some " not so good" reviews online about them. Naturally they were the cheapest as well

Always go local.

I bought my 1jz from japan motor imports in canada, was a nightmare. They sent the engine after a month of me calling, with the wrong ECU, and gave me a refund after I yelled at them daily about it. Plugs for the ECU were also broken when I got it.

I'd never go for any online importers except Jhot or Jarco.

Always go local.

That one is from a pre 89 MKIII supra. You can tell by the little hose/valve on the intake side of the head. On the soarer and post 89 MKIII's, it connects to the plumbing leading to the front turbo, whereas on the pre 89's it connects to the middle piece.
