Default Changing oil pan gasket.

Does the engine have to be raised to do this? I'd like to change mine but I don't think there's enough clearance....

Thanks...

You are referring to the upper oil pan correct? Seems like a tedious job. Here are some basic steps that I found:

-Remove and separate engine and transmission as described under Engine.
-Install engine on engine stand, then remove timing belt and crankshaft timing pulley as described under Timing Belt.
-Remove oil level sensor and oil dipstick and guide.
-Remove No. 2 oil pan and oil strainer, Fig. 40.
-Remove oil pan baffle plate and No. 1 oil pan.
-Reverse procedure to install, refer to Specifications for torque values.

Can also be done by supporting the engine from above & removing
the front subframe. 6 of 1 - 1/2 dozen of the other. For me the
subframe is easier. (have a lift & engine support brace)

support the engine from the top with the type of hoist that can be placed in the engine bay. the pan doesnt have a gasket. you use RTV or toyota FIPIG for both upper and lower pans. if the car is on jack stands you can support the front k-member with a floor jack and lower it a bit to get more room.
