Gated shifter upgrade
Can someone advise me the steps aside from the wiring? How would I disconnect the existing shifter?
I tried searching and it only covers the wiring.
Thanks in advance.

1: First you gotta remove the center console. I would use this tutorial to guide you if you don't already know how to do it:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=288782
2: Once you've taken off the center console, you need to unplug all the plugs on the original shifter (OG shifter).
3: There's 4 main bolts bolting the shifter down, using a 10 mm socket, remove the 4 bolts. (note that these 4 bolts cannot be reused on the gated shifter assembly, you'll have to buy new bolts about an inch longer)
4: Pull up on the assembly, there's a 12 mm bolt holding the bottom of the shifter assembly to the shift linkage rod. You can actually access this bolt from inside the car. You just have to pull the assembly up, the rod will follow, I was hesitant to do this at first, but it worked. (make sure you don't yank it, wiggle it up from the hole)
5: you can now unbolt the shifter from the shift linkage rod.
6: Now remove the old assembly and hook up the new gated shifter assembly.
7: Remember that the "Park" position for the tranny is when the shift linkage rod is pulled all the way towards the rear of the car. You must be sure to match up the gears on the tranny to the gears on the gated shifter assembly.
8: If you can't get your gears to match up immediately, then your shift linkage rod is too long for the gated shifter assembly.
9: If this is the case, you need to fabricate a bracket or cut the shift linkage rod and weld it back shorter so that it matches up.
10: The easiest thing to do is fabricate a bracket, just come up with a piece of metal that can be bolted to the shift linkage rod and the end of the gated shifter assembly. It must be stiff and secure.
Good luck, it's not too bad of a mod.

Thanks for the info...I did take apart the console already and removed the 4 10mm bolts. Without any clear instructions/directions, I was unsure how to proceed!
Hopefully, I will not have any issues with the shift linkage rod.
