Default What kinda of 5-speed tranny is this?? W58 or R154?? pic

we are not sure if this tranny is OEM stock or someone changed something on it....it's out from a 95 lexus SC300, but the tranny tail section is different than most W58 we had....this one has the bracket spport thing.....it's different...so any of your experts out there please help.....

It's a W58. They changed the tailshaft in 95. Mine looks just like that.

Here's a pic. Disregard the fact that it's behind the 1jz, its still a W58.

^^^^it all depends how you drive. if you slam it in gear all the time and "ricer" shift then it will be toast pretty fast. if you ease into gears, ie you can still shift fast just not slam it, it will be fine even on a bpu-ish setup.

Its holding up great. I'm pretty much stock though. Its making somewhere between 265 and 285 to the wheels is my guess, but so far no issues. I usually baby it though....

mine seems to be holding up pretty well, im rocking about 350hp 356TQ on my car but i usally ease into gears i never slam into them but id say that im easy on it. when im drifting however i do clutch kick and it has never given up on me yet.

Just to confirm, the stock 92 5-speed transmission will work with a 1JZGTE engine, for those planning to do an engine swap?

yep just make sure that the tranny matches the body style (there is a difference between tranny holes in the 92-94 and the 95+).
