SC300 auto to W58 swap...HELP!!
I have a 93 auto SC300. I need to go MT but the v160 is out of my price range and so its between an r154 or w58. I found a deal on a W58, stock flywheel, hard lines, both break and gas pedal, sogi shifter, clutch master cylinder, and a new slave cylinder for $230. I think its a good deal but then again I have priced out many trannys, what do you think? Also is a W58 going to keep me happy when i reach my goal of 350-400rwhp? From what I understand I will also need to get CLUTCH KIT, FLYWHEEL BOLTS, TOP HALF OF DRIVE SHAFT for the swap, does that sound about right?

definetly going na-t, this w58 supposedly has 60k mi, if its in good shape can i handle up to 350whp. Or do I need to look for an r154, or any other options. I would rather go w58 since it is a good deal and it may be a while before i actually boost. Ive got 178k mi on my sc300 and although its tip top shape im going to build the bottom and top end before boosting so it may be over a year before boost, by then i hope to afford a v160 and sell whatever tranny i settle with now, idk, what would you do?

That ECU was good, but...my car got T-boned 3 weeks ago...and is now sitting in a junkyard... Haven't been able to look at it yet...but the working 5 spd ecu is in there =( I bought mine from another board member...

Get the W58 it is the cheaper temporary solution until you get in the mid 350hp range. The W58 transmissions are relatively cheap compared to other Toyota transmissions. They came on the early Celica Supras,mk3 supra non turbo, and the Lexus SC 300's. When the time comes you get good horsepower go to the R154. Good luck
