running with AEM, car won't idle when Hot
Hey all, question for you guys running with a AEM.
I got my aem running pretty good when driving and on startup, it idles fine when cold (currently set to 1000prm)
but after a 30+ min drive on the highway the idle gets a little iffy (it hunts around 900-1000)
and after another 30+ min drive and the car won't idle at all, and I have to keep my foot on the throttle a little bit to keep it from dying
When it's HOT like this, I have to adjust the "Idle% vs Target" values all the way to 100%
and even then the idle is around 600-700
When it's cold I can have the "Idle% vs Target" at ~35% or so
I have a 2gz-ge NA-T
I have the "1/2 Stepper" and "3/4 Stepper" set to ON
and idle FB dir Invert checked off
my cal is based off the 1101 file thats included with the AEMpro
any ideas?
thanks

Idle Stepper Clock On
Idle Invert On
Idle FB Dir Invert On
Idle off if TP over 2.73%
Idle off if TP under 2.73%
Idle FB above RPM 300
Idle FB below RPM 2400
Make sure your Idle Target Base Table is setup for your coolant temp. It should be higher when cold and decrease as the temp increases. This will also affect the Idle vs Target table.
You may want to make sure that your Air Temp sensor is not getting heat soaked. Hope this helps.

just an update:
I had my idle has pretty solid while the car was hot.
But upon starting it the next day the rpms would be real high, it would idle at ~2000rpm.
And if I retuned this to a lower rpm of ~1000, it would eventually start getting lower and lower after ~35 mins of city driving
So I seem to be flipping back and forth between 2 sets of cals.
Also sometimes when I let of the throttle, I see the throttle % at ~8-12 %
but if I blip it it may drop down to %5
I have my idle FB set to 5% now as when the car is behaving well the idle is at uder .5%
I know AEM recommends setting the FB to 1% more then what it's at when idling
any ideas why my AEM is reading extra throttle % ??
Or why it flips back and forth between hi and low idle?
not sure if this is one of the electrical ghost problems some people have with the AEM
would an extra grounding wire to the case fix this?
thanks

noticed something this weekend
under the advanced options
if I set the "Idle Switch = always on" the car idles like it was on the stock ecu.
(without it, the idle tends to hunt +/- ~250rpm)
Anyone else have they "Idle Switch = always on" ???
I haven't heard of anyone else setting this
But then when I do have it set, my throttle% is at 100%
and the graph shows I'm at 3,000 rpm (on the idle vs graph)
even tough the car is idling at 1000rpm (+/- 50rpm)
also it thinks the target idle should be at 3,250 rpm
it's kinda weird
here's a screen shot with the IDLE SWITCH = ON
(cant see below, but at the time the white dot in the idle graph was pegged all the way to the right at 3000 rpm)
here's with it off

FYI:
I've gotten the car to idle one a single map now
seems to be holding up ok, for the last week or so (knock on wood)
but the idle is not rock solid, still seems to hunt like + or - 1500 rpm
any more suggestions?
thanks
