Default distributor smoke

just got myself a new SC project....and i noticed on startup today after opening the hood then turning off the car, there was slight smoke coming out from around the distributor and it had a smell to it.

Is the culprit the O ring? could it be that i got the car on delivery with no oil! it is way below the E and the light is on. and is it dangerous leaving it as is?

what did it smell like? also why not add all the fluids to the correct level n letting it idle for a bit to see if it gets better.

You definitely need to add oil and monitor the oil level closely. Its not necessarily dangerous to run it with a bad o-ring, its dangerous if the o-ring leaks oil and your oil level gets too low.

The distributor o-ring is notorious for getting hard and leaking oil so i wouldn't doubt it at all if thats the culprit

thanks fellas, i found it weird for the O-ring to go bad, because my last SC had 130K miles on it and it was fine, and this one has 64k...i'll try to fill her up, check all fluids, then let it idle, and go on from there.

mileage isn't always a factor on wear age is a good one too rubber turns brittle esp after pressure and being over 10+ years old
