Default Somethings knocking...what is it!?!?!

Okay so as some of you know, I just picked up this lexus 5 speed that was said to have a siezed motor. well I got a key and it turned over...so I put some oil in it and it ran with a knock. I dont know where the knock is comming from. Its a non-constant knock. It comes on when its under load. then goes away and knocks once or twice every minute or so. Its weird. I dont know what I need to do about it. I know I need to do something. I think im going to try to put that crank case oil in it and see if the knock goes away. Still...something needs to be replaced. Ill see if I can get a video of it. I dont know if I can thanks to my camera breaking...but ill get one. Let me know what you think I should do. (just so you know I started it and let it run for maybe 5 minutes. I didnt let it get hot...so I dont know what it does when it gets hot)

Thanks guys!

What you are describing sounds like typical rod knock. It starts when the car is under load, and eventually will knock even when not under a load. If you caught it soon enough, sometimes you can get away with just changing the bearings. Running an engine low on oil is what typically causes rod knock and chances are the car you have hasn't had the best maintenance.

Agree. So, if you want to potentially salvage that motor w/o a full rebuild don't run it any longer. I had rod knock on one of my cars and I put in increasingly heavier weight oil but it eventually died.. totally seized within about 500 miles or so.

probably a good idea to pull that motor before running it much longer...rebuild or swap!

I think it is a rod knock, and it does sound like a disel. Lol. anyways..I guess im going to take the motor apart and rebuild it myself. MHG and good pre-turbo internals. I dont want to do a GTE swap..because its just rediculous!
