you could do what i did..i bought a water adapter from http://www.glowshiftdirect.com/index...TS&Category=39 and install it in the middle of the upper radiator hose then just install the sensor that comes w/ the autometer electric gauge to it and run a wire to the gauge and one to a ground..here's a pic of it..

The best & easy place to install it is at the radiator's bottom, where the stock coolant temp sensor is at the driver side. I'm not sure about the SC300, but i think it's the same as SC400. I bought a T adapter at Ace Hardware sized 3/8 and it fits right into the stock threads with some Teflon tape. I have 1 end is the stock sensor and the other end is the aftermarket sensor. The best way for you to get the right size is bring your stock sensor to a hardware store and match it. Make sure you have enough room for the coolant to reach the aftermarket sensor. I use the washer on the stock sensor side to increase flow path to the aftermarket sensor.

This location will give you the correct reading. The bottom radiator hose is in-radiator, which is hot. The top radiator hose is out-radiator, which is cold. If iit reads cold, while it's half hot, you might not have the correct reading. However, the radiator adapter can be used, but keep in mind it reads colder than the entire radiator. The temperature on the radiator varies from location to location.
