Default DIY Timing Belt & Serpentine on SC300???

I am needing to change these 2 belts out and I was curious what is the best place to go buy them at... I found driftmotion.com had some good stuff for the 2JZ-GE and does anyone know if there's a DIY on how to change them out? I have been searching and it seems just up in the air.

dunahoo, I'd recommend Lexus of Pembroke Pines (http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...82&catalogid=0). I've found that their online prices are tough to beat. The drive belt is a no brainer, but I'd recommend you get some help with that timing belt. If you do nothing else BUY THE REPAIR MANUAL and follow it exactly.

The drive belt is actually very simple.

I remove the radiator, fan and shroud.

There is a tensioner in the middle of the engine. If you push down on it, or use 2 wrenches to tighten it (which will cause it to move down) the belt will loosen and then have a buddy slip it right off. Repeat the same action and your done. I removed my serpentine belt in less than an hour, and thats with removing custom brackets, and mounts for my fan shroud since my radiator wasn't "the perfect fit" that it was claimed to be :P

On a SC300 there is absolutely no need to remove radiator/fan/shroud to change out serpentine/drive belt. Serpentine belt change can be changed in about ten minutes without removing ANYTHING except the old belt itself. I have put about 200,000 miles on my SC300 and have changed that belt aleast a dozen times. SC400 may be different.

Considering he wanted to remove both the belts, taking off the those things makes for a much easier task haha.

if you never done either then get someone that knows what they are doing to do it for you or help you do it. it is NOT hard to do either one but it is very easy to screw it up...at least the timing belt and if you screw it up then you will most likely need a new motor if you bend some valves.

good luck

It is a non interference motor, so it won't bend the valves if you're a little off.

when you do the TB make sure to replace the TB idler/tensioner puller. the actual tensioner doesnt usually go bad but the roller/idler/tensioner does. when you do the TB do the following. it will save you hassle later and give you peace of mind:

timing belt
water pump
thermostat
cam seals
front main seal
timing belt idler/tensioner pulley

that should be it. when i replaced all those parts on my car it took me like 4 hours to do the job. its pretty straight forward.

good luck
