Nice numbers. I could only wish to hit numbers like that when I do my 1JZ in a few months.

This thread started the weekend of our local DFWMKIV.com club meet, and we road raced at Motorsports Ranch in Cresson TX on the last day. The track was configured for the 1.7 mile layout run in the counter clockwise direction (http://www.motorsportranch.com/1.7-road-course.cfm).

The track was open to us through Apex Driving Academy sponsored by a local VW dealership; so, it was well organized and covered by a photographer.

Here are some pics of the ketchup car:

I turned the boost down to 19psi which was about mid 500s. My times were around 1:34 most of the day and wasn't passed in my group (Novice II). A couple of Vetts were also in my session, and I got around them, too. The advanced drivers ran in the high 1:20s, and the light/fast cars were in the mid 1:20s.

In the pics above, body roll is clearly an issue with our cars. Granted, I only have Eibach springs, but the car could benefit from some TT sway bars and stiffer subframe mounts. Also, a T74 with 272 cams is just too laggy for road racing, and it's really not required to run 10s in the quarter mile. Consequently, I'm probably going back to a Q trim 71.

On a side note, I took the car to the 1/4 mile track last Friday night and did a personal best. With a 2.08s 60' on street tires, it ran 11.93 @ 129. A couple days later, my nephew drove it to Orlando for me (I'm relocating there), and it made the 1100 mile trip with no issues and got 20.5 mpg.

Needless to say, I'm very happy with the overall performance with the car.

Thanks for the update, Scott! Very well put together car you have there. You'll enjoy the car scene in Orlando, tons of SC's and Supras

Is the springs your only suspension mod? Definately look into the Supra TT rear sway bar and subframe mounts. If you feel you need to progress beyong those, then your car will already be setup for the Titan sway bar set because of the Supra subframe mounts. I would also look into a stiffer shock, or a coilover setup.

Just thought I'd update the thread...

I entered the Titan Motorsports Dyno Event for their Grand Opening last weekend in Orlando and ended up winning the darn thing. I was not, however, the highest hp car by any stretch of the imagination. Sean's MK3 put down over 1200hp at the end of the day to cap off the event, but he did not officially enter the event because he's an employee of Titan.

Anyway, my car made 866whp with some major wheel spin because the torque plateaued at about 640ft-lbs and never went any higher. (Note to self... GET BETTER TIRES! Haha). I have the dyno sheet but did not get a soft copy; so, I don't have anything to post. :-P

Still running the same setup - just getting better at tuning it.

Wow... you guys are way too kind... thanks again for the props; that certainly makes it all worth while.

I definitely need to step it up with vids; although, the paint is beginning to show its age. My next big milestone is a low 10 or high 9 second pass, and that opportunity is coming up in April at Dead Hookers 12 in Brandenton, FL. It's a track rental day organized by a local racing forum, and they let you run slicks or drag radials, only. No street tires are allowed. Full NHRA safety equipment is not required; so, I can run the ketchup car at full tilt without fear of getting kicked out. (Of course, that doesn't mean it's safe to do so.)

FWIW, I don't normally take the car on the street at full boost, but SC400TT was with me. And we took the car out afterwards and had some serious fun.

Anyway, I'll keep ya posted.

Default The ketchup car is dead...

Last year, I stripped my car down to a roller and sold it. A buddy restored it and sold it out of his shop. This is how it ended... not pretty, but fortunately no one was hurt.

Hopefully, I'll be back with a pearl white '97 in a month or so. Just need to finish off some wiring and put it back together. I've been without boost for WAY too long.
