Default check engine light

hi,
my check engine light came on after i decided to clean my butterfly on the throttle body, and the MAF, and the connections for the MAF and TPS... It does not accelerate past 3k rpm, and will nose dive when i try. also, when idling, the idle is lower than normal and there is the smell of catalytic converter.

I used the sea foam (deep creep) for the throttle body, and electrical connection/terminal cleaner for the connections, and lastly, i used MAF cleaner for the MAF!!
anyone have any suggestions as to what it may be. I already disconnected the battery, but it comes right back on... I cannot seem to find the plug that i can bridge to cause the ecu to flash a code, can anyone tell me where it is? thanks-mike

Mike,

It is on the drivers side of the timing belt cover by the upper intake manifold runners (if you are in a 300), not sure about a 400.

Here is a picture from a turbo Lexus but it is in the same place

What exactly do you think the diagnostic port does Trust me on this, I've been around a while...

You have to get a jumper wire that you put in the E1 and TE1 slots IN THE DIAGNOSTIC PORT to get the trouble codes.

MAF's are very temperamental - especially on these cars. I would venture to guess your MAF is mad at you and wants replaced.

Try pulling the -neg battery cable for a couple of hours. If that doesn't help, I would guess you damaged your MAF.

BUT, I am not a mechanic, nor do I pretend to be one. I have encountered a lot of MAF problems in my years though

sounds like you should pull the mass air flow back out and make sure the two elements are not touching or that there is no oily residue. also check to make sure your throttle blade is not stuck
