GMB replacement water pump --- different from stock
 

I fitted this new water pump as part of my engine re-build, and then noticed there is a hose nipple protruding from the bottom of the pump body. My old one on my '92 2JZGE engine did not have this nipple. Anyone know if I should just cap it off, or should I run a hose and "Tee" it in someplace else in the cooling system?

As you can see, this original pump has not tube nipple extending out the bottom of it. What gives?

Is there a weep hole in the other pump in the same location? Weep holes drain antifreeze once the seal goes bad before it hits the bearing.

I dont think the older water pumps ever came with new weep holes. Ive mostly see them on the updated ones. The weep holes are just left alone.

Older water pumps had them - the question is whether or not non vvti cars had them - which they should. If 60-70s era trucks had water pumps with weep holes, I'd hope toyota would catch on by the 90s.

i'd say leave it uncapped, fill it with coolant and see what happens.

If coolant pours out, obviously cap it.

It nothing comes out, leave it alone, because weep holes should not be blocked.

On the other hand, seen as it does look pretty large, you might want to get a little piece of cloth or something to cover the end, to stop dirt from getting in.
