Default 5spd question

I was doing some searching but can't find any info.
I want to put a 5spd into my auto 94 sc300 before I go NA-T but I have read that the 5spd from the sc300 can only hold a little over 300hp.

Someone told me I should just put in a 5spd from a sc400 because they can handle ~500. Is this accurate? My power goals are 350-400hp.

Sorry but I don't know jack about manuals

Well, sc400s never came in a manual transmission so you can count that out. I think I remember reading that the sc300 5spd manual (w58) can handle up to 400hp. Try to find atranny from a soarer/mk3 supra (r154) or even a mkiv supra 6spd (v160) if you have the money.

You need a 5speed out of a Supra or Soarer (japanese lexus sc300)..

It is called the R154. It can hold 650-850rwhp.

Soarer R154's are rare to find, but that isnt a problem. You will need to start out with a Supra R154, go to your local toyota dealership and buy a 1jzgte bellhousing for $350.

You will also need the 1jzgte flywheel ($270), and the 7mgte clutch setup ($275)

Then you will need two shifter parts from either toyota of canada or toyota of japan that will move your shifter far back enough to fit in the sc300. They will cost you $76. Blizzy's thread below will show you the part numbers.

I also beleive you need the 5spd supra front half of the driveshaft. As well as either Mk3 supra clutch pedal/slave/master or lexus W58 clutch pedal/slave/master. You will have to drill holes in your firewall to attatch the master and run lines to your slave. Additionally, you will need to go to lexus, or find a used center console peice for the stock 5speed trim so you have a shifter boot.

SC400 never came in manual.
SC300 did come in manual with a W58 manual transmission.

It all depends on the amount of power you want out of your motor.
The W58 should be able to hold around 400-450rwhp.

If your goal is around that range then thats what I would do.

^^ my friend blew his W58 making 350-400whp and he never drag raced with it, just drove it and made a couple boost passes. I wouldn't stick with the W58 unless you plan to stay stock.
