'99 SC 400

After many years of looking I have finally bought a 1999 SC 400. It has 120k miles Sil/Blk. Does anyone know how reduce the sensitivity of the gas pedal when pulling away from a dead stop?

Maybe throttle cable.
The following thread shows you how to tighten up the cable for better throttle response. I figure you can do the opposite to lessen the throttle response:

Thank you for the link. I have to think this over, but my first reaction is that this is the reverse of what I need. It's too responsive now. I think it's called tip-in. When you give it enough gas to pull out, it jumps, instead of a smooth pull away.

Haha... it is a good thing to have instant response. If you were absoluetely adamant about toning it down, you could retard the timning.

you should feel lucky you have the high comp engine and better torque convertor than those of us with the older setups! really though, that's just how it is. after you get accustomed to the feel of the throttle pedal, you'll be able to modulate it better.

Never seen this before Usually people are complaining because they can't pull away fast.

You could lower your stall on your TC, or else just learn how to feather/better control your thottle.

Can't blame you for that. I'm curious to see if the tighter cable affects MPGs.

Car launches from stop. Doesn't always do it but when it does I try to lightly feather pedal it just grabs and goes. Accelerates smooth any other time. Was thinking vacuum leak? Cable throttle body gummed up? Any luck figuring out what was causing yours to launch from stop?
