Default Drive belt ? with picture...

Question....I recently put a new drive belt on the SC400. The battery light has been flickering ever since. My question is are the pulleys suposed to be in a certain position or lined up with any of the marks? Are the white lines on the pulley supposed to be lined up with white numbers? Thanks. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

you dont need to line anything up when putting on a drive belt. the white lines on the pulley are for crank timing. when you do a timing belt you line up the crank at 0 degrees for TDC or you can use that when checking the ignition timing when engine is running with a timing light. make sure the belt is routed properly around those pulleys. there is more then one way to route the belt...and only one right way. it might also be a coincidence and your alternator is going out...which is not fun to do

when you open the hood there should be a diagram under it of how the drive belt should be placed. you might have not inserted correctly for the alternator and that might be why your battery light is flickering. i believe that there is an arrow between 2 lines to tell you that its correctly inserted but im gonna by a sc300.

then again it just might be bad luck and your alternator is dying or something else is wrong with your charging system.

Thanks for the input guys. I replaced the alernator the same time I replaced the belt. The battery checks out fine when I hook the voltmeter to it.

I wonder if the alternator has a loose wire or something...

I will check the belt to make sure it is routed properly.

Thanks.

if u replaced the alternator... and the light is still on....

Go check the grounding cable wire thing that is connected on the Alt. and the power line thing for the Alt as well. make sure one is bolted down all the way and the other is clicked in..

mine wasnt clicked in n yea.. car almost died on me.

replaced my alt, still had flickering battery light. Chased down wires for weeks thinking something in the path was bad. Turned out to be the new alt was bad. Had it replaced and all is well.
