Picked up an SC400 for christmas
This is a green 94 SC400 w/ 184xxx miles on the clock. I will post pics of it once I get my laptop to read my memory card.
On Dec 24, I picked up the car from the place I purchased it from, and I was pretty happy with the overall look of the car. There are minor dings here and there, but that's to expect from a 13 year old car. The interior though, is another story. The driver seat is horrible and so is the steering wheel. Thank God Gazi parts out more SC's than anyone I know, so I bought a clean steering wheel and a shifter to go with it.
Mechanically, the car needs some work. When i picked it up the battery was dead, of course. My brother in law (helped me pick it up) helped me jump start the car so I could put it on neutral and be able to roll it. Well, the tow rope snapped, so we ended up needing to jump start the car again so I could just drive it. The car was smoking black like there was no tomorrow. When I stepped on the gas the car would be sluggish, I mean no power at all. It would eventually build up speed but as slow as a turtle. Once I got home I took the battery to Autozone for a recharge. Right after I put the battery back in the car I took it for a test right around the block. Needless to say, the car was full of power and burning tire like a drift car.
Can someone tell me what could have caused this?
Today: I turned the car on again and upon acceleration, the car seems to not rev up like it should and smokes black. Don't know why is doing it, but hopefully it will go away once I tune her up and clean the system out.
anyhow, just wanted to give you guys an update of my newly acquired SC400.
Any tips will be appreciated.
Here a few pics of the car in my garage. I washed it, but you really can tell. Pics are kind of dark.

Thanks for the replies. As of now I haven't been able to take a look at the engine, but I'll definitely look at these parts when I do. I hope is something simple/stupid. I love the car and hope it becomes my daily driver.

Guys, I tried checking the codes in accordance to the troublecodes.net tutorial and for some reason it didn't work. When I first jumped the wires the engine light started flashing without stopping. When I tried doing it again, it didn't do nothing. I did a search in the forums here, but couldn't find anything.
Can someone help me out here?
Thanks in advance.
