Default My SC400 accelerates slow to my liking

Hello Guys,
I just purchased a 1995 SC400 last week. The car has only 76K miles. I have to admit it is a beauty. However, I must say that the V8 seems kind of sluggish to me. This is the first SC400 I have driven so I am not sure how fast this engine is in stock condition. I also feel sometimes the tranny holds it back too specially if you floor the pedal at very low speeds (below 20mph) the engine doesn’t rev high like it should. Okay coming to the point, can some of you please give me any pointers what maintenance I need to perform to this car for it to perform a little better? How do you guys rate this V8's acceleration? Could mine be an isolated case? I can almost swear that my 95 Maxima and 99 Acura RL at least seem faster. For now I want to keep this car in stock condition and I am not sure if any maintenance was performed by the previous owner besides oil change. I did run a bottle of Techron fuel cleaner with a tank of gas which has helped a little. Please help and let me know what other maintenance will bring some life back into this lovely car. Thank you all.

Just do your normal stuff, change plugs, fuel filter, air filter, change oil. Then you will know your up to date on some maintenance

1. A stock SC4 is not a speed demon. It's a heavy car with little low end grunt. Plus, 250-260 BHP is nothing to write home about.

2. Maintenance. Most SC's that people buy here are in need of some TLC or at a minimum a tune up.

3. Check your carpet under the accelerator. Odds are you aren't depressing the accelerator fully since you state it is not revving high enough. At 20-40mph, a fully depressed accelerator will drop the tranny into first and jump those RPMs up to close to 6k.

I thought the same thing when I first test drove my SC and pushed down the gas pedal. At first, I thought there was a problem with something mechanical. There's some delay in acceleration and you have to push the pedal down a bit to get results. It just seems to not want to ease into and gradually accelerate as much as I would like. Maybe I've just gotten used to it but it doesn't bug me much anymore. It apparently has to do with the torque converter like some posts above said and also read in other threads, so I guess you can upgrade it with a better one.
