Hot/warm air stops blowing at red light
Hello guys,
I am a new SC400 owner and I notice when I run the heat in the car, it works great and warm until I sit at a red light. Then the air starts cooling off slowly to outside temperature and then when I take off, the air starts blowing warm/hot again according to the setting. Is this normal or there may be something wrong with the heating system? please help

Ray,
Check your coolant level and top it off if it's low. This is a fairly common problem with the SC. The rubber on the coolant cap deteriorates in time and coolant starts leaking when the system is pressurized with a warm engine. The air that accumulates in the system does not let it recirculate through your heater core while the engine is running at idle so you get no heat. As the revs come up, the water pump starts spinning fast enough to overcome the air so you get some heat. Once you top off your fluid and make sure there are no air bubbles in your system, not only will you get heat at idle but you will see a noticeable improvement in the amount of heat you get in the cabin all the way around.
