SC400 top performance?

Default SC400 top performance?

ive been looking at the specs of the 95 sc400 and comparing it to tho the 97+
the older sc's specs say hp is at 250 but the 97+ is at 290 hp also i saw a chart that listed add ons from year to year and it looks like the newer ones have VVT-i cam shafts and im trying to figure out witch parts i could order and have installed that are for a 98 or 99 but going in to a 96 for performance gain?

Yah, the 98- up have the 290 hp with vvti, from what I understand the vvti addition isnt that easy to add. There are other options, such as headers, torque converter, turbo. Or you could sell your 95 and buy a 98 up.

its like trying to add vtec to a non vtec engine.. going to cost less swapping the motor then it would be trying to change over heads, cams, ecu... .. ..

I agree. Keep in mind it's more than just bolting on camshafts. The heads are probably different and you would need the 98 / 99 ECU to control the vvti. The 96 ECU wouldn't know it's there to control.

Why can't we just swap the heads? Does it work on oil pressure like vtec does? On honda setups, they block off a hole in the head for oil, then run a line (like an turbo feed line) to the head.

I don't see why we can't attempt to try the same thing.

Heck, if your that determined, go for it. I'm sure you'd need an ECU regardless. I also think it may be cheaper to find a wrecked car to take the whole motor and ECU out of.
