If I were looking for a short shifter for my W58, I would find a knowledgeable MKIV Supra n/a guy who would know if the Supra W58 had similar model changes to the SC. I say this because the shifter position between the MKIV and the SC is the same. This can not be said for the MK3 and the SC. That knowledgeable MKIV n/a guy should be able to tell you the short shifter options for the trans as well.

I just did this yesturday. So far I love it, it has a lot shorter throw and feels more solid. It is for a 94-98 mkIV NA and it will bolt right in on the 95-97 sc300. I bought it from an ebay seller for 75 shipped. They do not list them so if someone wants one PM me and I will send you there email address. I paypaled them the money and I had it two days later.

Im busy with school right now but during the winter i will be making a short shifter for my car. My idea is to basically make a plate that will be sanwitched between the top of the transmission and cover assembly that holds the shifter pivot ball in place. im thinking of making the plate about 1/2". to compensate on the shifter side of things i will cut the shifter stock below the pivot ball and add an extra 1/2" to that by welding in a "spacer". this will extend the level below the pivot ball thus changing the lever ratio. it will take less movement to shift it into gear. i have the aluminum at the shop and my thermal arc tig welder so hopefully i wont be too lazy to get it done.
if anyone sees anything wrong with what im describing and how it will work chime in your opinions.
i will try to make a diagram to show what im trying to do. i have done my clutch last winter and studied the transmission closely before i came across this idea.
LCSC do you have the pictures of that shifter out of the car before you installed it?

They do vary depending what year you have. My little brother's 92 has the ball and socket which I dont really like. My 93 has the ring type with the center bolt. Im using a 96 Supra tranny. I also noticed that my stock shifter sits lower than my brother's stock shifter. But I would still like a shorter throw. Anyone have any suggestions?

I don't have any pics, sorry. If I pull it I will take some. On the one I got it just had a 1/4 inch spacer on top and one on the bottom of the ball. The shaft between the ball and the linkage was about 1/2" longer. I think the 1/4" was just to offset the 1/2" a bit. I was going to make one too when I thought they were about $250 but for 75 bucks I had to pass. GL

There's a guy in the FS section who has a '92 SC300 with a TRD short throw shifter that he said he got from MVP. I talked to Kevin @ MVP (who used to own NAPerformance) and he said he believes that the C's shifters were the only ones that were 95-97 specific, and that the TRD ones should work on our 92-94's, but that the next shipment he'd take a picture of one for verification.
