1j turbos bad?
I finally get my map sensor, and crank my car on, and oil begins to leak from my hot pipe. It spits out when i first crank it and then its a slow steady flow.
I didn't have it on for too long (2mins max), I speak with a friend and he says one or both of the turbos are bad.. Then someone else tells me its normal when you first start up a swap and that i should let it run longer to see if it still leaks. I also believe that there may have been oil coming out of the y pipe as well.
so my question is what do you guys think? is this normal and should I just put everything else together and let it run longer? or is this a bad turbo or turbos that Im dealing with.. either way Im taking off of work next week and figured If I need a new turbo I might as well figure out so I can replace it and get this thing on the road..

Have you ever tried to swap the twins on a 1J/2J with the motor in the car? It's a pain in the *** with the motor OUT of the car, lol. If they're shot, save yourself some trouble and get a single kit.

I helped my friend with his 1j swap and he had the same problem. We took the turbos off before we swapped the 1j and noticed they were filled with oil so we assumed they were blown but it turns out they were fine. We just used an air compressor to blow out the excess oil. Becareful though its quite messy. TTSC3 is right its a pain in the *** taking the turbos off once the motor is in, so if you decide to go single now is the time.

ok, so i let it run today for about 3mins rev it up a couple times just enough to build up boost and no oil came out. so im thinking maybe it just was some old oil that was in there. thanks for the input.. but just for kicks and giggles where can i get a good single kit or at least the parts to build one up myself?

this sucks the other day no oil came out, yesterday I finished bleeding my clutch and servicing the tranny, installed my radiator, then I decide to drive my car out of the shop to the parking spot (like 30ft) I pop the hood after parking it and oil is everywhere, loads of it, so I guess Ill have to start up my swap with a single upgrade because Ill be damned If I take those turbos off and have to reinstall some other ones..
so how is a single with stock injectors? lol it will probably be my only choice for a while if I can even afford the single.. hmm I think Ill go gt40 blowzilla with a 68 exhaust unless someone objects and knows better..
thanks guys..
