Awesome thank you! I'll look into it how hard was the replacement? I haven't checked out the sensor really but I've taken apart the throttle body when I changed my spark plugs and coil packs

Default APS likely

It took about 30 minutes to install, including all of the preliminary work (covers and stuff).
I have a 2001 IS 300 and this part worked perfectly.

I just wanted to make sure if I bought the part for the IS it would work in the GS without any issues being that their both the same engine and intake is the same

After some research and trying a few home remedies, like soaking the APS in carb cleaner, I ordered an APS off of Amazon for 215.00. Two days later, it arrived and I installed it. Replacing the APS fixed the problem.

AMAZON :

UPDATE*********

part number 22060-46010 is for GS300 98-00; and 22060-46070 is IS300/GS300 01-05 per Toyolexparts and MyLparts.com

just incase for future reference with people with the same issues.

I know i keep adding to this thread but I ordered the TPS yesterday and code was rechecked at Autozone (because im obsessive) it still is pulling only one code P1121 but it says 1. coolant flow sensor 2. accel. pedal position sensor/ preformance problem. on their scanner. i still have 12 hours to cancel my order if i need a different part? i cant find anything called a cooling flow sensor?

Default Aps?

Hi, I totally understand. Money is tight for me, I'm a military NCO. I gambled that I was replacing the correct part, based on a bunch of on-line research and speaking with Toyota mechanics for advice. The "Throttle Body Lever Pedal Sensor" (accelerator position sensor) that I bought on Amazon fixed my IS 300 problem. I love my 2001 IS300, it's in nearly perfect condition, it's the best car I've ever owned and I have owned some really nice cars. Good luck buddy !

Default P0121

Hey guys ive been having these same issues with my 01 is300. Have 135k miles. I originally got the p1121 and p1120 codes. Ive replaced my maf, tps, apps and cleaned my throttle body. I set the new tps at .67v and it seems to run fine for a day or 2. Then my cel comes on and my trac control light flashes and it goes into limp mode. I pull the new code of p0121. I can reset the code and sometimes drive for a day but other times it comes right back. Im getting my 5v to my tps as well. The connector to my throttle body motor broke to pieces when i had disconnected it so i took that out and made all the connections individually. Also i can hear a whirring kind of noise from the throttle body motor when i turn my key to "on".

Anyone have any thoughts on what to check/do next?

Since TPS is in this post, Im replacing mine, and you can use a late model 4 pin alternator plug to plug into the tps and adjust it. You have to trim away the housing around the pins and it will plug in perfectly and have wires sticking out to hook your ohm. meter to. A good auto parts house will have them as a replacement part. Its kind of oval shaped with 4 pins in a row.

It is too new for me, but I was having idle issues. Seemed like the ecu was searching for right idle. Finally my battery died (in a drive through lane but that is another story. I had a dead cell where a jump would not help). Recently bought a new battery and it SEEMS the car is behaving better.

Is the check engine light (CEL) on? If it is, then it's most likely in LIMP mode. It may not have to do anything with the throttle position sensor.

99 SC300 here, replaced Idle Air Control Valve, Throttle position sensor, and Accelerator position sensor. Still in limp mode, no throttle at all until fully pressed. Help please.

Have you pulled the ECU out and opened it to see if you have leaking capacitors?
