Default Dual Electric Fan Question

I just got two 12" electric fans for my 1jz. My question is this; there is enough room to mount the fans on either the front or the rear(closest to the engine) of the radiator.

1. Does it matter performance wise?
2. Should I put them on the front leaving more room between the radiator and engine for 'air and other stuff'?

Tried to search for an answer to this but its a little specific for google, any help is appreciated. Thanks.

they need to be on the backside unless you aren't running air conditioning - they need to be mounted directly to the radiator

It is also important to get 'pull' type electric fans rather than push (has to do with which side of the radiator)
