Personally I'm getting closer and closer to zero hour.
I have my motor, tranny (auto for now), SC300 drive shaft and gauge cluster, igniter for the 1j, fuel cut defenser, fuel pump on the way.

I'm still intercooler shopping, need a few random hoses and new timing belt would probably be wise.... so if any has more info that we can put in, now's the time!

Honestly wouldn't it be cheaper and easier to start with a 1uz equiped sc to begin with? You could pic one up for cheap and throw a lextreme motor ready to go without the headache.....

Sc400 is UZ equpied.. I'm guessing you meant 2j... but other than the motor mounts, drive shaft, and tach there really isn't much of a difference.

Because to get over 500hp with a 1uz you need to get all new internals, tuning is tougher, and mods for the 1uz are more pricey. The 1UZ is a great motor, but not exactly the best bang for the buck... Especially considering you can do the swap, with a single, fuel, and a tranny to hold it and still be in for way less money than a stroker kit.

...or maybe you meant something else.

This is very great information! This thread will surely come in handy when it is time for me to swap my 1uz out for a 1jz. Does anyone have any information on swapping a soarer 1jz and r154 5 speed into the sc400. If I was to get a hold of a soarer 5speed front clip would I have everything I would need to complete the swap? I know i will need the sc300 gauge cluster and driveshaft and i will probably be able to use the soarer motor mounts...somebody correct me if i'm wrong?

You can use the soarer motor mounts.

I am thinking about a month and a half until I do my swap... the end is neigh.

Just curious what exactly doesn't match when fitting 1JZ tranny to the 400 driveshaft? Is there a length difference, or just the spacing difference on the 3bolt flange?

I'm just finishing up swapping an Aristo 2JZ into an LS400 and all that was required (DS-wise) was to swap the flanges from the tranny tailshafts.

The soarer and sc300 auto trans has a splined slip yoke output. The sc400 auto has a 3 bolt flanged output. I guess you could swap the jz bell onto the 1uz auto and avoid driveshaft issues?? Maybe? Anyone used a 1uz trans on a jz series engine?

So the motor mounts from a mkiv-tt will fit on a 1J and into an sc4?

Yes, using the 1jz brackets.
