im new to the forums and tried the search. still could not fine the answer to my ques. my question is how do i know which motor do i have 1 or 2 jz. i recently picked up a 92 sc4 a/t. sorry for newb question. thanks in advance.

You have neither 1JZ nor 2JZ engines.

You have a 1UZ-FE engine, 4.0 Liter-V8.

1JZ-GTE = JDM Toyota Soarer - 2.5 Liter TwinTurbo I6
2JZ-GE = USDM SC300 - 3 Liter I6
2JZ-GTE = 1993.5-1998 Toyota Supra - 3 Liter TwinTurbo I6

unlike the JZ engines, you have a remarkably difficult engine to milk significant power from. That being said, you own one of the smoothest, most luxurious, and most reliable V8's ever produced. I am sure you will learn to love your UZ, even though it is not a JZ.
