Whipple Supercharger
1 Attachment(s)
Picked my kit up from Andrew at Richwood Technologies on Sunday.
Attachment 108294 Just got to wait till I get my car back from the paint shop. Looking forward to seeing how this will perform with my other modifications. |
That's awesome

Wow. I assume that is for the V8, right? The Whipple is twin screw, right? Are you rebuilding the engine or milking everything you can out of the stock block?
Congratulations. Holy ****. V8 love is coming around. |

Congratulations. Holy ****. V8 love is coming around. Yes, Yes and I have been assured by Andrew that I will be fine with my initial boost of 6-7 lbs. All I need is to run one range colder plug, stock ECU and injectors will be fine. Later on when I am ready to go for more boost all I need to do is piggy back ECU, injector upgrade, can retro fit a water to air intercooler if I want to. I will be looking to go to about 10 lbs of boost, when I do this Andrew also has a 8 rib pulley upgrade kit available. If I do destroy a motor they are ready available, so easy to get another. I have already put a rebuilt trans with a shift kit in, headers and exhaust, trans cooler and the front brakes were upgraded to Celsior 4 pots with braided lines. The Whipple, Autorotor and Opcon type blowers are so much more efficient than the Eaton, they are worth the extra expense. |
That sounds great man. The advice you were given is consistent with almost everything that I have heard about the engine as well.
The twin screw charger is just bad ass. That thing is going to haul from idle to the redline. |
:jealous:
Please let give us step my step update. Thanks. |
Just had a quick read through your thread, the centrifugal charger is a good option, a friend of mine here is running a Vortec with air to air intercooling, ECU, pretty sure he fitted some 400cc injectors, could of been 440's, he is now pushing 14 lbs of boost on stock internals. He has just recently fitted a 2800 stall convertor and you can't wipe the smile from his face.
He has made some minor changed since his last tune so he needs to re-tune but he was getting 240kw's at the wheels and that was before he put the smaller pulley on to get some boost. That got a bit away from what I was going to say, You will absolutely notice the change in yours with the manual, will make it a lot better with the centrifugal charger, look forward to see what sort of results you get. |
So the whipple will fit under the hood of an sc with the air to water core on there as well? I may yet ditch my dreams of going turbo and do that setup.

Andrews intercooler fits inside the manifold and is held in place by the top plate,
very simple and takes up no space in the engine bay. If you need more info you can contact Andrew here. richwoodtechnologies@bigpond.com |

I have sen his build on SoarerCentral. I love how the centrifugal charger ensures that you are increasing power all the way to the redline. But, I am jealous that your twin screw will be pulling from idle to the redline. I can't wait to see what numbers you throw down.
|
I am keen to see what it does on the low boost set up first, then down the track a bit will be upgrading to 10lb set up, injectors, piggy back, and a 8 rib pulley kit, but that's later.

Nice stuff!

It has been a while waiting to get this thing fitted, been too busy. No excuse, but had to make some small alterations.
The top pulley was going to hit the bonnet, and I didn't want to alter that, so went back to Andrew at Richwood and he reworked some numbers to reduce the diameter of the pulley. He is going to machine the top pulley down from 110mm to 93mm and also reduce the size of the crank pulley to keep the ratios close and the end result will be approx 8lbs of boost when fitted. Everything else I need I have, just got to wait for the pulleys, got to get this thing done. |
