NA-T & Miles
Hey guys, I'm just curious is it worth boosting a car that has a lot of miles? I am still deciding if i want to turbo my sc300.
Specifically Na-t sc300's, like mine which has about 157,000 thousand miles on the clock. Would it be worth boosting it or maybe buying another low-mile cheap 2jz-ge, since there's so many out there. -Thanks (sorry for all the spelling errors and what not) (I fixed em) |
I've heard of people slapping a kit on a higher mileage SC....
I guess it all depends on how the engine was treated throughout the years. My SC...if someone got it at 150K miles...would be fine for NA-T...cause I'm a lunatic about oil changes and never beat on it. Some of the used SC's Ive seen, I wouldn't put 104 Octane boost in the tank for fear of a catastrophic explosion under my hood. |
your engine is young enough to take the abuse, assuming it has been well maintained.

get a compression test run, and if the results are even across all cylinders, your engine is probably healthy enough for boost. If you are healthy, you might as well boost it, and then buy a low mileage engine if -by chance- you got a little crazy and blew it up. a compressioin test will give you good info though. I would start there.

Thank Blizzy. I sure will get a compression test run.
