I had a misapp today at work. As i was leaving my car would not give gas. So i turned back (very slowly, car was barely moving) and once i stopped the inline gas filter had a leak. It was spraying gas out badly (thank god i was almost out of gas). Anyway as i was trying to shut the car off somehow I screwed up the overdrive button on the shifter

I can hold the button IN and overdrive will go on (light goes off) but once i release overdrive it goes off again (light comes on). Is this fixable? Can i pop it out and see whats wrong with it? is it shot? Do i need a new shifter?
