Default Straight Pipes on SC400

Went to my exhaust shop, and was talking to them about a custom setup. he said the best option would be just to "straight pipe that son *****." i know it sounds redneck, but i was thinking of cutting the cats, resonator, and doin 2.25 inch piping into flowmasters mufflers

Cutting off a cat doesn't do much unless you are in boosted situation. A Magnaflow cat will do just fine.

Don't do straight pipes......you lose to much low end, and after a few weeks the obnoxious sound gets to you. Don't believe me? Check my myspace for the vids.

can you just partially hollow out the preconverters, leave single big cat and the resonator?

It might cause you problems with emissions (if you are in NoVa...I used to live in DC However, I pass some pretty stringent Mexico City emissions (voluntary for foreigners, but it gives you some benefits) on 1 Magnaflow cat without precats (1destroye by $#*!@ gas here). I have had no CELs, but not sure about anyone who has run this set up in an SC400.

Gutting the precats is a common thing in the rest of Mexico...in fact gutting the cat due to MPG, but this is on small vehicles like VWs/Nissans.
