Why CEL after putting in gas?? All the time?

This is the 3rd time I filled up my tank all the way and my CEL came on. 2 times at Hess and another time at BP. All 93 octane.

Code 13 = rpm signal or knock, everythign tells me something different.

but why? how can I fix this?

im goign to change my fuel filter, but what else can it be?

Sounds like you aren't putting your cap on tight enough.

Or (lower probability) do you leave your car running while you fill up?

:agree:

Faulty gas cap (bad seal). Fairly common and an easy fix.

I thought that knock sensor errors were code 53. My manual says that code 13 is as follows:

most likely the gas cap seal. I've seen it happen before, but im not sure if it should throw out a code 13 though.

RedPhoenix Apr 15, 2007 05:57 AM

well i replaced my fuel filter... seems to gotten rid of the code almost 100%

96gti2.0t Apr 15, 2007 06:31 AM
