Default What goes here?

Had the car started up today and noticed that two vaccume ports are open. Not sure if there should be a hose connecting the two but when I covered the left port the car almost died until I pulled my finger away. The other fitting though has nothing. Is this part of the crankcase evap system and should they be connected?

Catch can is on the list of things to do once this car get's worked out. Just run one hose from the case to the can and then one from the can to the vaccum I take it? That's much easier than haveing to weld fittings on the valve cover (honda head)
