Question Has anyone had issues while replacing Power Steering Pump?

Just replaced a leaking but working Power Steering Pump with another used model off of another 2000 SC4 with good seals intact.

After (a pita) install, i decided to flush the system by hijacking the return hose.

While on all 4 jack stands - car started, the fluid just sat in the reservoir.

No bubbles, no return hose fluid.

I doubt the fact that the pump is 100% dead, so I am wandering if it could be the pressure hose bolted on at incorrect degree.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions?

NOTE: There was no "whining" from lack of fluid, so I am out of expertise right now.

If it was an "angle/degree" thing you would have other problems at the pump.

Problem solved.

I thought the steering-assist was speed sensitive, but it is apparently pressure sensitive.

It only works when it truly has to; no complicated speed algorithms. So I lowered the car and all is well.

The Lexus manual never mentioned this on checking the system.

Imagine that.
