My check engine light is weird. At times it will come on and stay one for a couple of minutes and then go away. Then Sometimes it comes on for like 5 seconds and goes away. Has anyone ever had this problem?

 

my sc300 does the same thing sometimes it will come on for a whole day and then comes off .im thinking its the o2 sensor because its the original one in the car .it could be the egr too .im not to sure .run a diagnostic via the port in the engine bay and see what u came up with

 

Try pulling the engine codes. Even though the light disappears, some codes stay stored in the ecu. At least you will know whats tripping the cel.

pulling engine codes will probably tell you whats the problem might be, but the most common check engine light is the O2 sensor. If you didnt replace it in a while it is most likely the case.

 

I know little about cars. What does "pulling the engine code" mean?
